NBN Case Study
Imported Polymer Contamination Remediation
The Challenge
Gaylords of material were rained on, then loaded into ocean containers for the trip from overseas to the United States. After a month as ship cargo, the corrugated box containers were dilapidated and decomposing. That left cardboard contamination in the finished product.
The Process
The process to remove the contaminants was to shovel the material into super sacks then screen the product. Additionally, an LOD (loss on drying) analysis was conducted on each gaylord to ensure that moisture levels were acceptable and within tolerance for the material. The finished good was then placed into new gaylords, labeled accordingly, and shipped to the customer per the intended use.
The Solution
The customer was able to provide clean material to their clients. This solved the contamination issues and the only negative to the NBN customer was the delay in shipment.
The End Game
The customer was able to deliver materials somewhat timely rather than wait for another ocean container to arrive stateside.
