NBN Case Study
Bulk Polymer Deagglomeration & Repack
The Challenge
The challenge for this material was not known until the 2m pounds arrived stateside. It was found to be severely agglomerated which was not in the scope of work. Another unforeseen challenge was the vastly inconsistent weight of the supersack. This led to lot number discrepancies vs. the weights that were reported from the manufacturer.
The Process
First, the material was deagglomerated before it could be weighed properly. NBN deployed a proprietary method for deagglomerating the material without exposing it to outside contamination.
The Solution
The original material was discharged into the desired packaging at the correct weight for our customer's batch size. This could only be accomplished by deagglomerating material to a free-flowing state needed to fill the super sacks.
The End Game
Upon bringing the packages to the proper, desired weights, an additional 48,000 pounds was "created" and repackaged. This gain in material more than paid for the contracted work that NBN performed for the customer.
